About PrepTune

PrepTune is an AI tutor that learns about you. Instead of handing you the same questions as everyone else, it figures out how you think, remembers where you're strong and where you get stuck, and adapts every session. Right now it helps you prepare for job interviews. That's where we started, not where we stop.

Two words. Prep, because you can prepare for anything. Tune, because it's tuned to you. We didn't want a name that was only about interviews, because the goal is bigger. Interviews are the first thing we do well, and there's a lot more coming: exams, coursework, internships, and more.

LeetCode and Educative are great for learning algorithms and concepts, but they hand everyone the same content. PrepTune runs a real mock interview that adapts to your answers, asks follow-up questions, reads how you communicate, and tells you what to fix. It's the difference between reading about swimming and getting in the pool with a coach.

Start using PrepTune as soon as you begin your job search, ideally 2-4 weeks before your first interview. Use it to: (1) Get a baseline assessment of your interview readiness, (2) Practice consistently with realistic mock interviews, (3) Review feedback and work on weak areas in Learning Mode, and (4) Do final prep 1-2 days before your actual interview with company-specific practice.

We started with software roles, but it already works for others like Product Managers, Data Scientists, and Engineering Managers. It adapts the format, questions, and feedback to your target role. And interviews are just the start. We're building toward a tutor that helps you prepare for exams, coursework, and more, all tuned to you.

AI & Technology

Real AI. PrepTune runs on frontier AI models (Claude today, and we use whichever model does the job best as we build new features). The interviewer understands context, asks real follow-up questions, and gives feedback based on what you actually said. It's a genuine conversation, not a script, and it adapts to your answers, your experience level, and the role you're targeting.

After each session you get honest, per-answer feedback across things like technical accuracy, communication, and problem solving. Use it as a directional read on where you stand and what to work on next, not a guarantee. Real interviews have human factors no tool can simulate, so the point is steady improvement, not chasing a number.

We research each company's interview process using public information, including sources like Glassdoor and Levels.fyi. The AI then generates questions that match the company's style, difficulty, and focus areas. For technical roles it factors in the tech stack and domain. Questions are generated fresh, not pulled from a fixed database, so you get relevant practice every time.

When you set a target company and role, PrepTune researches the interview process and builds a plan for what you'll actually face: behavioral, system design, coding, or role-specific rounds. As you practice, it tracks your progress and shifts focus to where you need the most work. It remembers you between sessions, so the plan keeps getting more useful.

Privacy & Security

We only collect data necessary to provide the service: your profile info, resume (if uploaded), and practice session content. Your data is encrypted in transit. We use your practice responses to provide feedback and track progress, but we don't sell your data or use it for advertising. AI processing happens in real-time and follows strict data handling policies. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

No. Your PrepTune account is completely private. We don't share user information with employers, and there's no way for your current employer to know you're using our platform. We don't have partnerships that expose user data, and we don't publish user lists. Your job search preparation is your business.

We may use anonymized, aggregated data to improve our services, but your individual responses are not used to train external AI models. Your practice sessions stay confidential. We're transparent about data usage, so check our Privacy Policy for the specifics.

Yes. You can request complete deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting [email protected]. We'll remove your data within 30 days as required by privacy regulations. You can also export your data before deletion if you want to keep your practice history.

Interview Practice

Our questions are inspired by real interview questions reported by candidates, but they're not leaked or stolen questions. We analyze patterns from public sources to create questions that match the style, difficulty, and focus areas of actual company interviews. This means you get realistic practice without ethical concerns about using proprietary interview content.

PrepTune supports multiple interview formats: Behavioral interviews (STAR method, leadership, teamwork), System Design (architecture, scalability, trade-offs), Data Structures & Algorithms (coding problems with live feedback), Domain-specific rounds (PM product sense, DS case studies, etc.), and more. The available formats depend on your target role and company.

Sessions are flexible. A quick practice round takes 15-20 minutes. A full mock interview simulating a real interview loop can take 45-60 minutes. You can also do focused practice on specific question types in 10-minute sessions. We recommend consistent short sessions over occasional long ones for best results.

Yes! When you create a prep plan, you specify your target company and role. We research that company's interview process and customize your practice accordingly. You'll get questions that match their style, focus areas, and difficulty level. This company-specific preparation is one of PrepTune's key advantages.

Prep Companion

It's a companion for your whole job search. Connect your Gmail and Calendar, and it finds the jobs you applied to, keeps a prep plan updated for each specific role and interviewer, and nudges you to run a mock before each round. Think of it as a tutor that keeps track of what you're preparing for. It's in private beta right now.

Access is read-only, and it never sends anything on your behalf. It stores the job-relevant details it needs, not your raw emails. Interviewer research uses public information only, and you can disconnect Gmail and Calendar whenever you want.

Totally fair, and honestly a good instinct. We'd suggest keeping a separate email just for your job search and connecting that one instead. It's a smart habit either way. It keeps recruiters, applications, and interview scheduling out of your personal inbox, and it means the Prep Companion only ever sees job-related mail and nothing else. Use that address when you apply, connect it here, and you get the same help with none of the worry. Access stays read-only, and you can disconnect any time.

The Prep Companion is invite-only while we're in private beta. Request access from your account settings and we'll turn it on for you.

No, mock interviews work on their own. The Prep Companion just saves you the busywork. For a job you applied to, it works out which mocks to run based on the rounds, the details HR sends over, and its own research, then sets those rounds up so they're ready when you want to sit down and practice. It only does this when you ask it to, so nothing runs behind your back. You don't have to remember what's coming or dig around figuring out what to prepare for each round. You tell it to get everything ready, and it does.

Getting Started

Sign up with your Google account, then create your first prep plan by entering your target company and role. Upload your resume for more personalized questions. PrepTune researches the company and builds your plan, and you can start practicing right away, no lengthy setup required.

You get 3 free mock interviews to start, no credit card needed. PrepTune is early and we're not charging yet. We'll add paid options down the road, but right now the whole focus is making the tutor genuinely useful.

Yes, for each prep plan you upload the resume you used to apply for that role. That's how real interviewers work. They have your resume in front of them and ask about your experience. PrepTune does the same, so you can prepare strong answers about your projects, skills, and background before those questions come up for real.

Yes, PrepTune works in mobile browsers. For the best experience with coding practice, we recommend using a desktop or laptop. Behavioral and system design practice work great on mobile devices.
